Greg & Laura’s Biggest Adventure Ever

On August 13, 2026, my wife Laura Brookfield and I will be joining 24 riders to bike from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine (P2P). The journey, supported by Trek Travel, will be seven weeks long and is expected to be 3,781 miles.

A cross country ride has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager. We can’t wait to see this beautiful country from sea to sea. I have provided a link at the bottom of this page to a blog about our epic and crazy adventure. Additionally, Laura and I are using this platform to fundraise for charities that are personal to us.

Parkinson’s to Prostate Cancer is also P2P

Parkinson’s Disease

My father Ted was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2019. He has had gait and balance issues as well as mental decline. It has been difficult to watch my strong father struggle. He has been able to do balance classes, physical therapy, outdoor walks and continues to fight. He uses his walking poles or wheel walker to do his half mile walks several times a day. The strength and determination within allow him to fight off the grasp of Parkinson’s disease.

Ongoing research is critical to future treatment and prevention. Exercise is such a large component to combating Parkinson’s disease. Some studies have suggested that purposeful exercise, such as boxing across the midline, are as effective as prescription medication.

Please donate to the Parkinson’s foundation to fund research in combating this progressive neurologic disease.

Prostate Cancer Foundation

I have a 100% family history of prostate cancer in my male relatives. In 1996, my father had a radical prostatectomy procedure performed at Johns Hopkins University for prostate cancer. He is alive today, but has dealt with complications from the procedure. It has now been 30 years since that surgery.

I was diagnosed with stage one prostate cancer in April of this year. An early diagnosis allowed me to have treatment options. On July 13, 2026, I underwent an HIFU (high intensity, focus ultrasound) ablation procedure to treat my prostate cancer. The procedure went well, and I was able to ride my bike one week later. I have an excellent prognosis. I am so grateful that significant research has been performed by the Prostate Cancer Foundation. I have better options in one generation after my father’s treatment.

Please donate to the Prostate cancer Foundation to fund further research in treatment and prevention.
